When Dorinda Clark Cole stopped by the Detroit Praise Network studio with her daughter, Nikki Cole, we talked about much more than music.
We talked about purpose.
Their passion project, The Grace House Adult Day Center, was born from a desire to support families caring for aging loved ones. Anyone who has ever been a caregiver understands how rewarding—and exhausting—that responsibility can be.
Nikki said the vision was simple. They wanted to create a place where families could trust that their parents, grandparents, and loved ones would be cared for with dignity, compassion, and genuine love. That mission became reality when The Grace House opened in 2024.
During our conversation, I shared my own experience caring for my parents. I remembered hiring home care workers and realizing that compassion isn’t something every caregiver naturally brings to the job. Dorinda immediately understood.

Safety comes first. So does respect. Instead of spending the day sitting in front of a television, guests stay engaged through music therapy, games, exercise, technology, and activities that stimulate both the mind and body. For Dorinda, music is especially meaningful.
She explained how familiar songs often awaken memories, encourage conversation, and even inspire worship among seniors living with memory loss. It’s something she has witnessed again and again. I couldn’t help but think about my own parents. Even as Alzheimer’s began changing my mother’s memory, she never forgot the songs of the church.
That connection through music is something The Grace House embraces every day.
The center also provides breakfast, lunch, transportation within a 20-mile radius, and a welcoming environment where caregivers can enjoy a much-needed break, knowing their loved ones are in caring hands. Dorinda couldn’t stop smiling as we talked about The Clark Sisters’ upcoming “Legends of Gospel: Vegas Residency.” The groundbreaking series will make history as the first gospel music residency on the Las Vegas Strip, featuring Detroit’s own The Clark Sisters, Fred Hammond, and Deitrick Haddon. Opening weekend is set for October 8 and 9 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, with additional dates to follow.
