I had the joy of catching up with one of my favorite people, Lisha Lewis.
Now let me be clear—this is more than an interview. This is family. I’ve known Lisha for decades, going back to our days at Specs Howard School of Media Arts when we were both much younger and just getting started.
Since then, I’ve watched her grow through every season. She’s built a powerful career, served in the military, and continued showing up with strength, grace, and purpose.
So imagine my surprise when she told me she’s now representing Van Buren Township as Ms. Van Buren Township and competing for Miss Michigan Corporate America.
I had to smile because this truly is outside the box for her.
Lisha shared that she never planned to enter a pageant. In fact, the opportunity came to her. She was contacted directly and encouraged to learn more about the organization. After doing her research and praying about it, she felt led to step into the moment.
That’s Who She Is… She Moves With Intention
More importantly, she saw this as more than a crown or title. She saw it as a platform.
Lisha has spent years developing a message centered on identity, dignity, and empowerment. She wants to challenge harmful language and replace it with something rooted in strength and pride. It’s a mission she first shared with me years ago, and I remember being deeply moved by her vision.
Now she gets to present that message on a much bigger stage.
And honestly, I couldn’t be prouder.
Anyone who knows Lisha understands that nothing about her journey has been easy. Like so many of us, she has faced battles behind the scenes. Still, she keeps, building and encouraging others while doing her own healing work.
That’s Why This Moment Matters
She isn’t just showing up for herself. She’s showing up for every person who needs to see that reinvention is possible and purpose still has your name on it.
The competition takes place this Saturday, and there’s a way for all of us to support her through the Audience Choice vote.
I’ll be cheering loudly for my girl. And something tells me this is only the beginning.
