When Bishop Hezekiah Walker told me, “Favor is all over you,” I knew we were having the kind of conversation I’d been waiting a long time to have.
It had been years since our last interview. So when we finally got back on the phone, we had plenty to talk about.
Bishop Walker is back with new music. His latest single, “Favor,” featuring the Love Fellowship Choir, is a reminder that no matter what life looks like, God’s favor is still at work.
“We’ve Come This Far by Faith and Favor”
Bishop Walker says he listens closely to the community, the culture and the church when deciding what music to release.
While praying about his next song, he felt the message clearly: We have come a long way by faith and favor.
That message became “Favor.”
The song encourages us to remember what God has already brought us through. It also reminds us that favor can open doors we never expected to walk through.
For Bishop Walker, that favor isn’t about talent alone. He believes our relationship with God and the condition of our hearts matter.
The return of the Love Fellowship Choir makes the song even more special. After taking some time before releasing new music, Bishop Walker says the response has confirmed that “Favor” arrived at the right time.
From Building Churches to Building Community
Bishop Walker’s vision doesn’t stop with music or the pulpit.
Through HezHouse Apartments in Brooklyn, he has taken a major step into community development. The project includes hundreds of affordable housing units and came from a very different vision for property his church had purchased.
After the pandemic, Bishop Walker prayed about what God wanted him to do with the property. The answer surprised him.
Don’t build a church. Build housing for the community.
Today, families are living there.
Bishop Walker shared one story that really stayed with me. He recently met a mother who had spent four years living in a shelter with her children. She was able to move into HezHouse, and she told him she was finally able to smile again.
That’s the kind of impact that goes beyond a song.
And Bishop Walker Is Still Dreaming
The vision continues to grow.
He’s preparing for Choir Fest at Sea, sailing from Miami December 5–12 with Fred Hammond, J.J. Hairston, Anthony Brown and Will Johnson.
He’s also working on a music school and performing arts center in Cape Town, South Africa.
After decades of music and ministry, Bishop Walker is still building. And he’s still reminding us that favor is on our lives.
