Statue of John Lewis Unveiled at New Park in Atlanta

On Wednesday, just a few days before the one-year anniversary of the passing of John Lewis, family, friends and city officials gathered for the unveiling of his statue at a new park in Atlanta’s Westside.

The brothers of the late Congressman joined the mayor and other dignitaries for the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon to open the Rodney Cook Sr. Park in Vine City and christen the statue.

Over time, the park will include a library that will contain the writings of C.T. Vivian and will have 18 bronze statues, plaques and monuments dedicated to peacemakers including Vivian, Andrew Young, Julian Bond and Martin Luther King Jr. (Source: ajc.com)
