Your Family Is…

Crazy, So much fun, Loving… Yep, that’s us. I’m just catching up to all the comments about our 3rd Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and the overwhelming response was how hilarious our family is. Thank you for all your votes and comments!

I Praise God for allowing us to shine His love through each of us. I Thank our Parents… especially our dad… for making sure we remain tight, band together for good, and work out our issues when things are not so good. We’ve had our fair share of arguments but at the end of the day, we work it out and we love.

We also know that family is not defined by being blood related. We are a family made of blood, friends, legally adopted and even God ordered adoption. Cool thing about it is, you don’t know the difference… we just seamlessly blend together. I honestly can’t remember a Christmas when we didn’t have someone or a whole clan of someones embraced into our bond. That’s also a trend that my parents instilled in us from the beginning. There’s no such thing as a lonely Christmas when it comes to us. If you’re there… You’re family.

The other day, I went to 7-Eleven and as I checked out asked the cashier would he be able to enjoy any of his holiday? He responded, “No, I’m working but I can’t stand my family anyway so I don’t mind.” I almost cried. I cannot imagine that. Before I pulled off I prayed for him. So what’s the point?

You’ve got to have a nucleus of people you care about. If it’s not blood, it’s friends, people you look up to, people you can bounce ideas off of, dream with and even people who keep you accountable… and the other way around. That’s what makes up a family. Please don’t spend another minute hurting alone. Get your family together… However blended it may be… and watch how easy it is to give and receive the love you’ve seen in us. The love the apostle Paul wrote about in Ephesians.

How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. (Ephesians 1:3-6 MSG)
