I remember telling my friend Benita (Lady BG) Gray-Hill during 9/11, that when I got in radio, all I wanted to do was spin the hits. But, the fact is... those of us who play music for a living are called to do so much more.
Having to speak those words on the air that adults and children were killed in an elementary school, sapped the life out of me. Then, I spent the rest of the evening redirecting programming, finally getting home late in the night to absorb all that happened... and to cry. I'm still crying. There's so much to address from guns to mental health treatment but for Newtown, Connitecut... the talks are far too late.
God help the families and loved ones dealing with the aftermath of this horrific American tragedy. Father we reach out to you for comfort. We ask for a divine shelter be built around the children and adults that witnessed the madness. May there be healing in our land.
Psalm 31:9, Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am in distress. Tears blur my eyes. My body and soul are withering away.
